SAP partners working on the analytics and big data applications are expected to generate revenue of about $220bn during the next five years, new research by IDC has revealed.

According to the report, the revenue will be driven by an increase in customer demand for skills in analytics and predictive analytics during the next 12 months.

Services include reselling, professional services, hardware and additional intellectual property as well applications developed on analytics applications from SAP and the SAP HANA platform.

The Asia-Pacific-Japan region is expected to offer $48bn in revenue, while $70bn will be generated in Europe and $102bn in the Americas region.

IDC Channels and Alliances Research VP Darren Bibby said that SAP delivers effective sales, marketing and training resources.

"The result is that the SAP ecosystem is well-positioned for the future and customers will benefit from these additional skills and resources," Bibby added.

According to the study, the digital data will grow from 130 exabytes in 2005 to 40,000 exabytes in 2020.
