Global business-to-consumer (B2C) ecommerce sale is expected to reach $1.85 trillion mark in 2016, according to a report from eMarketer.

According to the report, the B2C ecommerce sales are anticipated to grow 17.1% to $1.2 trillion in 2013, compared to 21.7% growth recorded in the prior year.

Asia-Pacific market is expected to boost the growth with 23% rise in the sales driven by the sales in China and Indonesia that are expected to surge by 65% and 71%, respectively.

Regions like North America and Western Europe are expected to register double digit growths of 12.5% and 14% respectively, driven by the more mature ecommerce trend in the regions.

The Middle East and Africa region is anticipated to experience quick growth compared to Asia-Pacific region, driven by the smaller base, while the Asia-Pacific region account for about a third of all B2C ecommerce sales in the world and is expected to lead the worldwide ecommerce spending in 2014.

In 2013, Latin America’s ecommerce market is expected to reach $45.98bn, a 20.9% increase, while Central and Eastern Europe are expected to spend about $48.56bn.

Worldwide ecommerce sales are expected to increase, boosted by 1.03 billion digital buyers in 2013, out of which 44.4% are anticipated to belong to Asia-Pacific.

China will have about 269.4 million digital buyers followed by the US with 155.7 million buyers.
