Twitter tests new direct messaging feature

Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to directly message recommendations to followers.

Twitter VP of product Michael Sippey was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that: "If a group of people I follow all follow someone really quickly, Twitter will push me a direct message."

Sippey said most messages posted on the site are visible to the public, making it easier for the company to design new user experiences.

The addition of new features are part of Twitter’s plans to expand its network, which currently has more than 200 million users.

Last month, it was revealed that Twitter is working on a customer-matching ad tool, which is aimed at facilitating advertisers to find their customers who use the social-messaging service.

Earlier this year, Twitter launched the updated version of its apps for devices that run on Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS operating system.
