Yahoo has unveiled a new photo-filter app for its photo-sharing site Flickr.

The new Flickr photo-sharing app will allow users to access and share photos from several social media sites including Facebook, Google, Twitter, Tumblr and even email.

A new navigation bar and explore page has also been added to the Flickr site.

"We know that some of your best photo moments happen on the fly, so we’ve made it easier to get the perfect shot when inspiration hits," said Markus Spiering, field product head at Flickr. "Once you get the shot, there’s a built-in editor to quickly correct, crop, or enhance it with one of the new high res filters.

Users can upload unlimited photos from their camera rolls as well adding venues from Foursquare and tagging friends.

The flickr app also has a Contacts view so users can discover photos from firends and their favourite photographers.

The move from Yahoo follows days after Twitter released its new photo filter feature to compete with Instagram.

Twitter launched a photo filter this week to rival Instagram’s after the company disabled Twitter cards integration.

"Due to Instagram disabling its Twitter cards integration…photos are being displayed using a pre-cards experience said Twitter in a statement. "So when users click on Tweets with an Instagram link, photos appear cropped."

The micro blogging site had unsuccessfully attempted to purchase Instagram before it was acquired by Facebook.

Instagram CEO, Kevin Systrom, addressed the sudden decision to cut support for Twitter cards at Le Web Paris 12′. "We will always be integrated with Twitter in a way that you can tweet out from Instagram to Twitter," said Systrom. He added that cutting Twitter support is the "correct thing for our business to do at this time."

The CEO assured that the change had nothing to do with the company becoming a part of Facebook, saying it isn’t "a consequence of us getting acquired." He believes the change will simply create a better user experience.

Yahoo is the latest company to enter into the photo app wars. The company will not only be competing against Instagram and Twitter but also Facebook’s photo app ‘Camera.’
