According to a survey conducted by Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG), global eCommerce sales is expected cross past $1.25tn mark in 2013.

The survey was conducted by Survey Monkey on behalf of SLI Systems which found that enhancements to site search, SEO and mobile commerce strategies are top priorities for retailers 2013 to tap the growing market.

Improvement in conversion rate and attracting buyers to websites are some of the big challenges online retailers face while other challenges include logistics and international expansion.

With mobile commerce expected to grow, about 40% of retailers plan to create a mobile version of website in the coming year while about 20% of those who surveyed are planning to create a mobile app.

In order to ensure optimum customer experience, retailers are planning to have A/B testing, refinements, merchandising and Rich Auto Complete features in their website.

About 52% of the retailers are planning to add A/B testing, 48% plan for refinements, 39% to add merchandising capabilities while 34%want to add auto complete functionality.

The survey revealed that 18% of the retailers are to upgrade or change their eCommerce platforms, while 18% will improve their site search functionality, 17% will enhance SEO and 15% will strengthen their mobile commerce strategies in 2013.
