The US International Trade Commission (ITC) said it would review the ongoing lawsuit between Apple and Samsung Electronics before deciding whether or not some of the South Korean firm’s devices infringe the iPhone maker’s patents.

Last month, ITC judge Thomas Pender said in a preliminary decision that Samsung infringed an Apple patent by incorporating the text-selection feature in its devices.

However, Pender said the South Korean firm did not infringe portions of a second Apple patent, which enables a device to identify if a microphone or other device is plugged into its microphone jack.

Bloomberg reported that the Washington-based panel, in reviewing the case, sought additional arguments on three of the four patents that Pender said were infringed, and comments on how an import ban would affect the public.

One of the patents involves enabling the use of a headset with the smartphone while the other enables the gadget to display an image on a screen with a second, transparent image over it.

The case, involving smartphones and tablet computers, is part of an ongoing lawsuit between both the smartphone makers when Apple filed a lawsuit with the ITC in July last year.

A final decision in the case is expected in August this year.
