Virtualisation and cloud management application provider Embotics has announced to release the new version of its private cloud automation offering, V-Commander 4.6 with added features later this month.
Embotics V-Commander 4.6 will come with expanded service catalogue and linked clones functionality which will allow customers to offer IT-as-a-service (ITaaS) using private clouds.
The new version claims to support deploying virtual machines (VMs) as linked clones which will enable provisioning anything from VMs to IT services through app store interface from the service catalogue.
Services can be created by users themselves for provisioning of unmanaged assets such as desktop phones and database, which claimed to completely automate the provisioning process through completion of workflows.
Linked clones claimed to save disk space and speed up provisioning time which is important component of lab management and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) deployments.
With the new version, the entries on the service catalogue entries can be included as linked clones while it allows users to manually deploy a VM as a linked clone.
Embotics said starting from early 2013, the company plans to introduce support for Microsoft Hyper-V.
Embotics EMEA vice president for Colin Wright said as businesses have accelerated migration to the cloud over the past few years, IT management requirements have evolved.
"IT administrators need a solution that enables them to provision virtual and physical infrastructure and services from a centralised management platform," Wright said.
