Search giant Google’s email service Gmail suffered a global outage on Monday afternoon leaving millions of its users facing difficulty to access any of its services.
Google confirmed that service disruptions had affected Gmail and Google Drive, which are part of its Apps suite.
Google said: "We experienced an issue with Gmail and some users experienced slow performance or errors."
"For everyone who was affected, we apologize – we know you count on Google to work for you, and we worked hard to restore normal operation for you," Google said.
Apart from Gmail and Google Drive, several users additionally reported that the outage had also affected the company’s word-processing and spreadsheet programs, Google Docs, and the company’s Internet browser, Chrome, also crashed unexpectedly.
Earlier this year, Google had introduced a redesigned Gmail composer which will make it easier to refer old e-mails while composing new ones.
Last month, Google had introduced new search features to Gmail in a move to make it easier for its users.
Recently, Google had said that it will no longer provide web-based apps software, Google Apps, free for small businesses.
