Yahoo is planning to phase-out additional online services that were not generating any profit, as part of its efforts to streamline its product line-up.

Yahoo! Deals and Upcoming will not be available from 30 April 2013, in addition to Yahoo! Kids and SMS update service in addition to older versions of its e-mail and messenger apps, are also scheduled to be phased out.

The internet firm is planning to trim its 60 to 75 products to about a dozen to provide popular mobile apps, while also allow increasing investments in some of marquee properties including mobile apps for e-mail and weather.

Yahoo Platforms EVP Jay Rossiter said: "We realise that change is hard, but by making tough decisions like these we can focus our energy on building beautiful products for you like the two we introduced this week – Yahoo! Mail for iPad and Android tablets and Yahoo! Weather for iPhone."

Recently, Yahoo introduced an e-mail app for tablet computers that allows users to manage their inbox by swiping messages into groups organised by sender, in addition to a new programme that allow checking weather forecasts on smartphones.

In March 2013, Yahoo revealed plans to phase-out seven of its products including Yahoo Avatars, Yahoo App Search, Yahoo Sports IQ, Yahoo Clues, Yahoo Message Boards website and the Yahoo Updates API.
