Samsung will use Absolute Software’s patented Absolute persistence technology in Galaxy products, which will help with the tracking of stolen mobile devices.

The new anti-theft software will be incorporated as a feature of Samsung KNOX, which is a mobile application for work and play with security enhanced Android platform as well as application container, and scheduled to be launched during late 2013.

Global Samsung smartphones and tablet users can deploy Absolute Computrace or Computrace LoJack for Laptops to track, manage and secure their devices remotely from a single cloud-based console.

Samsung Electronics Technology Strategy Group senior vice president Dr. Injong Rhee said: "Absolute’s firmware-persistence technology and managed theft protection services are a feature of Samsung KNOX for our enhanced security software and services strategy for the enterprise market."

The technology allows users to receive alerts, maintain compliance with corporate and government policies and explore security incidents, while recovering stolen devices.

In case of any security incident, the Absolute Investigations & Recovery Services Team can provide evidence to local law enforcement globally to support the recovery of the lost device.
