The app has been made available in the App Store that allows direct streaming of music files from the cloud or downloaded content to be played while offline.

Amazon digital music vice president, Steve Boom, said that the company introduced Cloud Player app for iPhone and iPod touch last summer and now expanded it to iPad.

"Our goal is to make Cloud Player the most widely compatible cloud playback solution available, giving our customers the ability to buy their music once and enjoy it everywhere," Boom added.

The app allows users to import about 250 songs in the Cloud Player for free, which can be extended by paying $25 per year.

In august 2012, the company signed licensing agreements with Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Music, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and more than 150 independent distributors, aggregators and music publishers to upgrade its Cloud Player service.
