HTC has introduced a new Android powered smartphone to reclaim some ground lost to Samsung Electronics and Apple.
The new HTC One comes with a BlinkFeed feature that replaces icons on the home screen with a single live stream of personally relevant information including news articles, social networking updates, photos and video.
Claimed to be the first smartphone with a in-built remote control function, the new device’s UltraPixel Camera with HTC Zoe enable users to shoot high-resolution photos and automatically create integrated highlight films.
The created videos can also be remixed or set to different themes and shared on social networks, email and other services.
HTC Sense TV feature, which acts as remote, will transform the HTC One into an interactive programme guide, while remote control will allow connecting to TVs, set-top boxes and receivers.
Featuring a 4.7-inch screen and quad-core processor, HTC One also comes with LTE network technology which would offer faster browsing, while dual front-facing speakers and a built-in amplifier enhance the sound experience.
The new smartphone is expected to launch in March 2013 worldwide through more than 185 mobile operators.
According to an IDC report, Google’s Android operating system was used on 70.1% of smartphones shipped during the fourth quarter of 2012.
Samsung was the biggest contributor to Android’s success, making up 42% of all Android smartphone shipments during 2012.
