Apple has released iOS 6.1, the revamped version of its operating system since it launched in September 2012. The company has added 4G LTE support for 36 additional iPhone carriers and 23 iPad carriers across the globe.

The revamped operating system (OS) allows users to browse, stream and download content at faster speeds, on the iPhone 5, iPad mini and iPad with Retina display.

Apple’s worldwide marketing senior vice president, Philip Schiller, said the iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system.

"iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads," Schiller said.

Features of the iOS 6.1 include the ability to use Siri to buy movie tickets in the US through Fandango. It also allows iTunes Match users to download songs to iOS devices from iCloud.

Apple has also added a new feature to reset your Advertising Identifier, which controls how a person’s web activity is shared with advertisers.
