The US International Trade Commission (ITC) will review a preliminary ruling that that South Korea based Samsung Electronics infringed Apple patents to produce smartphones and tablets.
The panel has also ordered the judge to deal with issues on two of the four patents found to be violated.
One of the patents involves enabling the use of a headset with the smartphone while the other enables the gadget to display an image on a screen with a second, transparent image over it.
The review means the companies will be given a final decision.
In August 2012, Apple was awarded $1.051bn ina patent suit against Samsung.
Since April 2011, both smartphone makers filed about 30 lawsuits against each other in at least 12 courts, nine countries, and four continents, involving smartphones and tablet patents.
However, Samsung also has filed lawsuits against some of Apple’s patents in Europe, in a bid to keep German cases on hold and has won the UK court ruling that it did not violate an Apple design patent.
