The number of requests for user data from law enforcement agencies, has increased by 17%. Over 21,000 applications were made during the second half of 2012 (H2 2012), according to Google’s latest Transparency Report.

According to the report, the figures include requests associated with its YouTube video service.

Google said the number of requests has grown over every half-year cycle since the launch of the Transparency Report three years ago.

The US topped with 8,438 submissions, followed by India with 2,431 user requests.

Google complied fully or partially with 88% of requests from the US.

Google, however, rejected all of Turkey’s 149 requests and Hungary’s 95 applications.

During July to December 2012, Google received about 1,458 requests from the UK, a small increase from the same period in 2011.
