Opera is planning to launch a new WebKit-based mobile browser to enhance web broswing for Google’s Android and Apple iOS platforms.

The launch will be at the upcoming Mobile World Congress to be held next month in Barcelona, Spain.

Features of the browser include interface elements such as buttons, tabs, gestures, icons and a single URL plus search bar, while it will also incorporate visual elements and allows searching new pages through the address bar.

Opera Ice product manager told Pocket-lint that the new browser is a full touch and tablet-focused browser.

"Most are taking a PC browser and squishing [it] into a tablet, or they are taking a mobile browser and blowing it up to fill the space," product manager said.

The firm is also planning to add the new browser for Windows based Phones after their sales increase.

Currently, Opera offers the Opera Mini browser on Android and iOS, while the iOS version is based on server side rendering in the cloud.
