Apple and Samsung have been allowed to add new devices to the patent infringement lawsuit, which is scheduled to go to trial on 31 March 2014.

US Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal allowed a joint stipulation filed by Apple and Samsung regarding their motions to amend their infringement contentions.

The move comes after both companies sought to supplement the case and Apple has added Samsung’s Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III with Android 4.1, Rugby Pro, Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wi-Fi and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to the case, while Samsung added the iPhone 5.

Earlier, the Galaxy S III mini was also on the list of devices, which Apple dropped after Samsung promised not to sell the smartphone in the US.

Samsung Electronics has also asked the US Court of Appeals to stand by its decision made in October 2012, which rejected Apple’s plea to bar sales of its Galaxy Nexus device.

Both firms are involved in several patent infringement lawsuits and in August 2012 Apple won $1.051bn in a patent lawsuit against Samsung.
