Apple has asked the US Court of Appeals to once again review a decision by a three-judge panel. The move follows after Apple’s request to impose a ban on Samsung Electronics Galaxy Nexus smartphone sales was rejected.
According to Reuters, Apple expects the full Federal Circuit, made up of nine active judges, to reverse the panel’s findings.
The trial is expected to start in March 2014.
Apple received about $1.05bn in damages from Samsung in August 2012 after a US jury found Samsung had copied important features of the iPhone and iPad.
US District Court Judge Lucy Koh, who is reviewing the long running patent trial between Apple and Samsung Electronics, has denied the iPhone maker’s request to ban 26 Samsung products from sale.
Koh said that Apple had failed to prove the infringing products affected its sales and made a final plea for peace between the two firms.
Last month, Samsung had withdrawn its bid to ban sales of Apple’s devices in Europe.
Apple has also agreed to withdraw its patent claims against Samsung’s Galaxy S III Mini smartphone.
Apple and Samsung have been involved in patent wars in at least 10 countries for the last 18 months.
