Internet Initiative Japan, the country’s first ISP, is building out a service portfolio to tackle the UK market.
IIJ operates a cloud integration service called ‘GIO’ which it has rolled out on a city by city basis through Asia and the US. The firm said it will offer server environments to European customers at the same level of quality as those in Japan. IIJ GIO EU Service takes full advantage of the cloud service administration expertise which IIJ has accumulated by providing the IIJ GIO Service to customers throughout Japan, it said.
GIO is its cloud service spanning SAAS, Platform as a Service, IAAS and Hardware as a Service.
IIJ in the UK now offers its Virtualization Platform VW Series which allows users to freely design and build operating systems and applications on VMWare virtualization platforms. Customers will be able to quickly and flexibly build private cloud environments that incorporate their existing systems, the company said.
The company has rolled out its IIJ GIO service on a city by city basis to metros including Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Dusseldord and now London. It is also present in Seattle, Los Angeles and New York
In Europe it extended its partnership with Vigience Co. Ltd (a Japanese company with its European Headquarters in Zurich) and it is seeking to build out a partner network in the UK.
The company said: "We provide IIJ GIO to our non-Japanese channel partners as a white label We are developing MSP/SaaS partners who are struggling to manage private cloud infrastructures by themselves."
Vigience adopted the IIJ GIO service as part of their Overcast product offering which enables on-premise ERP systems to integrate with cloud based systems.
IIJ has also started IIJ Data Center Service which means colocation services for customers’ own IT equipment and Internet Access Service in the UK.
IIJ strengthened its data centre position in Europe through its presence in Telehouse London docklands data centres. It links into the transcontinental KDDI backbone to Japan.
