About 300 websites, including Google, Apple and Microsoft, have been hacked and defaced by hackers. According to reports the attacks were carried out by hackers in Pakistan and Turkey.

During the attacks, Google.com.pk, Microsoft.pk, Apple.pk and Yahoo.pk were among many sites that were taken offline. A Pakistani Hackers’ group said it exploited weaknesses in the PKNIC, which supervises domains for the country including .com, .pk and org.pk, in order to deface the websites.

Other leading websites which have been affected include Cisco, Visa, HSBC, Coca Cola, Blogspot, Sony, HP, eBay and PayPal.

According to ProPakistani, the group revealed that PKNIC servers have been vulnerable to boolean-based blind sql injection, time-based blind sql injection, cross site scripting and sensitive directory disclosure.

The reports also revealed that the hacker who hit Google’s site was the same one responsible for several thousand other website defacements.
