Mobile operators EE and Vodafone are looking to acquire part of Phones 4u after the mobile phone retailer fell into administration over the weekend.
The move comes after EE was the last remaining network partner to end its relationship with Phones 4u last week, following
Vodafone’s termination earlier this month, which will see its contract end in February 2015.
According to the Financial Times, EE could buy anywhere between a "handful" and 80 of Phone 4u’s 550 stores.
A Vodafone spokesman also told the FT: "We can confirm that we have been approached by the administrators of the Phones 4u business. We will not be commentating on the detail of those discussions."
Vodafone, which launched its HD voice technology, also looked at buying the Phones 4U chain last year.
Rob Hun, one of the three administrators at PWC, said he has received up to four expressions of interest from ‘trade players’ less than 24 hours after the mobile phone retailer collapsed.
Dixons Carphone has also expressed an interest in taking on the 160 concessions within its stores, which could mean potentially saving 800 jobs.
