Foxconn, the Taiwanese iPhone manufacturer, has announced it is hiring 100,000 new workers to begin production of the iPhone 6, Apple’s nexys flagship smartphone.
The announcement realises the rumours that Apple will release the iPhone 6 this year in two iterations, one coming with a 4.7-inch screen and a slightly larger device with a 5.5-inch screen.
It is expected that the phone could be released as early as September, following Apple’s autumn trend of previous years.
Foxconn said it is ready to make as much as 120 million devices before the year is out.
Last week, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 6 launch may be delayed because of production issues.
Cited by 9to5Mac, Kuo said that there was problems with the colouring of the metal casing of the device.
