Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin and Microsoft to migrate its email and collaboration systems to Microsoft Office 365.
Under the four year contract worth $9.8m, EPA will move approximately 25,000 of its employees to Office 365 for Government, which includes email, calendars, scheduling and collaboration tools for internal and external use.
Lockheed Martin will manage the migration of EPA employees, which is expected to be completed in early 2013, and provide engineering, ongoing integration services.
The transition will improve EPA employees’ access to communications and mobility tools and enable EPA save costs by reducing the agency’s energy footprint.
In addition, the new system is expected to save approximately $12m for the environment agency during the four-year contract period.
