Images and details of Samsung’s upcoming virtual reality headset have been leaked online, which said to be launched at the IFA consumer electronics show scheduled to be held September 2014 in Berlin.

SamMobile has confirmed the news about the rumoured headset named Gear VR which will be created in collaboration with Oculus VR, a company acquired by Facebook.

Reports claim that the modular design of the headset would allow it to dock the Galaxy smartphone using a USB 3.0.

The virtual reality effect will be achieved through head tracking instead of sensors.

The smartphone will have gyroscope, accelerometer and processing power to track the head movement.

Gear VR will reportedly come with an elastic headband along with padded cushion on each side.

According to the image posted by SamMobile the headset will consist of a see-through button which will use the smartphones rear camera sensor to show video feed of the outside world.

It will also consist of a touchpad that will be located under the button to let users navigate the interface of their smartphone.

According to reports, Samsung will be manufacturing the hardware for Gear VR while the software would be developed in collaboration with Oculus VR, and Samsung might create a set of dedicated apps for the device as well.
