A hospital has installed its first ever Wi-Fi network from wireless systems specialist Ruckus. The hospital claims the network will deliver a reliable connection for its residents and staff.
Royal Hospital Chelsea required a Wi-Fi signal durable enough to provide a strong signal across the 300-year-old building but with minimal disruption.
A spokesperson from Ruckus told CBR that the five-to-six feet thick walls, wooden beams and hard flooring meant the Sunnyvale-based company had to be "extremely careful" not to damage the wards.
Isabel Prieto-Cordero, ICT manager at Royal Hospital Chelsea, said: "Installing a robust and reliable Wi-Fi network throughout the main hospital building was imperative.
"The staff and residents are just as dependent on the Internet as many other walks of life these days. We wanted to be able to provide residents and visitors to the hospital with seamless access to Wi-Fi."
Ruckus installed its ZoneFlex 7363 Access Points integrated with its ZoneDirector management platform to centrally control and monitor the service delivery and performance.
The installation was completed in two days with no disruption or alteration to the building or its occupants, according to Ruckus.
