Yahoo has announced the arrival of its personalised Yahoo Sports app for iPhone, iPad and Android to UK shores.

Dubbing the app "the fastest, most engaging source of sports scores, news and stats we’ve ever built," Yahoo UK is enticing users to the app with the knowledge that this weekend’s Premier League finale will be an exciting one.

Users are able to customise game alerts, and the app has live match, team and player pages, news and match by match updates.

"We’ve tailored the experience for our football obsessed UK audience, ensuring the experience delivers the matchday information that matters, like line-ups, team formations and goal alerts, at your fingertips as soon as they happen," said Ian Nolan, director of Yahoo sports in EMEA.

"We’ve incorporated more in-game, team and player stats than any app out there, which will put Jeff Stelling and his Saturday afternoon panel of experts to shame."

Yahoo also launched its Yahoo News Digest app for Android users today, following its launch for iOS in January 2014. The app is now available globally, and marks Yahoo’s shift to cater for all platforms.

Every morning and night, Yahoo News Digest delivers a summarided version of the top news. Using ‘algorithmic and human editorial curation’, each story is a collection of "atoms" – articles, maps, Wikipedia entries, videos, and photos – that make it easy to "digest" the news quickly.

CBR spoke to Nick D’Aloisio, the 19-year-old creator of the app, back in March. Read the interview here.
