Thanks to LG, soon you’ll be able to chat with your refrigerator.

Its new range of home appliances including washing machines and microwaves with w LG’s HomeChat messaging application which leverages Natural Language Processing (NLP) and popular messaging service LINE to enable you to communicate with your appliance, as well as control and monitor it.

LG Electronics Home Appliance Company president and CEO Seong-jin Jo said today’s intelligent home appliances offer a variety of useful functions but many consumers still find setting them up an extremely complicated process.

"Not only does LG HomeChat help simplify and enhance our products, they also deliver a unique user experience, adding even more value to our customers’ lives," Jo said.

In addition, the refrigerator comes with an interior camera which allows users to monitor what is there inside it through smartphones and tablets.

Using the HomeChat function in the washing machine, users can text their command through their smartphones to complete the washing when they get home while it allows them to control and monitor the washing machine remotely.

Similarly, the users can remotely send command to their oven to prepare specific dishes, control temperatures as well as open recipe search window and get an alert when the recipe is ready.

HomeChat application operates in three modes: Vacation, Away and Return-home.

A similar application has already been launched by Samsung Electronics called Samsung Smart Home service, which allows users to control home appliances.
