Got a new HTC One M8? We wouldn’t blame you. HTC’s latest flagship offering competes with the Samsung Galaxy S5 for the best smartphone you can get right now, so here are five features you may not even know you had at your fingertips if you’ve just picked one up.


Double tap to wake up

By double tapping on the screen, you can wake up the HTC One M8 to view your notifications and time. Double tap again to put it back to sleep. After you’ve double tapped, swipe up to go to the homescreen, and swipe down to activate voice dial. This only works in portrait mode. This feature can be switched off in the Display and Features menu.

 

End calls with the power button

After you’ve finished with a phone call, it can be much easier to hang up by pressing the power button on the top of the phone. Access this option by going to settings > accessibility > power button ends call.

Change up your font

HTC has given you the option to change the font style on the HTC One M8. You can change from the default to Helvetica of LCD, and the features spices up the menus for people who want to stand out. You can also download more fonts from Google Play.

Pick up the phone (literally) to answer it

Go to settings > call > auto answer call to enable the option of picking up your phone to answer the call. What happens is that the phone uses its gyroscope to sense when your draw the phone upright to hold it to your ear and it will answer the phone in the process.

Did you know you can quickly snap a photo with the HTC One M8 without even waking the screen? Pick up the phone in landscape mode and hold down the volume down button to launch the camera app.
