Sony has announced a new Digital Paper tablet which uses e-ink technology to replicate a pad of paper.
The device is just 7mm thick, and comes with a stylus that lets users interact with the device like they would a physical notepad.
With a screen size of 13.3 inches, the tablet is the same size as a standard US letter, and coming at a price of $1,100, it’s clear Sony is aiming the device at the business market.
Bob Nell, who is the director of Digital Paper Solutions at Sony, said that the deice is the first "true replacement for the vast amounts of paper that continue to clutter many offices and institutions".
He said:"The ‘notepad’ feature will have universal appeal, and notes can be shared with clients, colleagues and co-workers.
"It is very easy to use and optimised for reading and annotating contracts, white papers, scholarly articles and legislation."
The tablet has 4GB of internal memory (which Sony says is enough for 2,800 PDF files), and the screen has a resolution of 1200 x 1600, built from Sony’s Mobius technology. The device reportedly boasts a three week battery life.
