Yahoo has acquired Vizify, a Portland-based company which enables users to transform their social media data into videos, and infograpics.

Vizify, which has been negotiating with Yahoo since last summer, and following the deal the company will not accept new signups or purchases of paid plans.

The company will also shut down the service for existing bioholders and accounts and refund its paid customers.

Vizify said it can’t talk specifics just yet about what lies ahead, but is excited to bring a more visual approach to data at Yahoo.

"We have a lot more up our sleeves and can’t wait to get started," the company wrote on its website.

As part of the transaction, a team of five persons from Vizify will join Yahoo’s media product organisation in San Francisco.

Yahoo said, "We have found in Vizify a company that shares our passion for visualization technology and the user experience."

Both the firms did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

Yahoo is continuing its start-up acquisition spree for a long time to strengthen its web offerings and recently it has acquired Incredible Labs, the developer of personal-assistant app Donna.
