Intel CEO Paul Otellini told employees in Taiwan that Microsoft is releasing Windows 8 operating system (OS) before it is fully ready, according to Bloomberg.
Otellini told in a private meeting that Windows 8 requires more improvements which is being designed for touch tablets.
According to Gartner, the launch of Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS set in October would be a potentially risky gamble which the software giant must take to stay relevant in a market dominated by Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android.
Windows 8 features a new user interface based on Microsoft’s Metro design language, similar to that of the Windows Phone OS and is designed to suit touchscreen input, along with traditional mouse and keyboard input.
Windows 8 will be available in three versions, down from the ridiculous six versions of Windows 7 that shipped.
The company noted that Windows 8 will be offered in 109 languages across 231 markets worldwide.
Microsoft is planning to release Windows 8 on 26 October 2012.
Technology companies frequently release software before it is completely ready and make adjustments after the release.
Vista, a version of Windows that debuted in 2007, was released two years late as the software initially did not work with many applications and drivers.
