TDF, a provider of radio and television transmission services, has said it expects to provide a faster network for users after selecting network specialist Ciena’s optical solution.
The network will be powered by Ciena’s 6500 Packet-Optical platform, which includes WaveLogic optical processors and switching capabilities.
TDF, which has over 20,000 telecoms points of services and 4,400 customers, will also leverage Ciena’s OneControl unified management system, which should speed up connectivity, network monitoring and diagnostics.
Jean-Louis Mounier, industrial director at TDF Group, said the deal has already helped the company to create new services and identify new clients.
Eric Sèle, VP of strategic solutions EMEA at Ciena, added that operators like TDF need to implement new services that differentiate themselves in the marketplace.
"Addressing these challenges requires an architecture that is future-proof and combines intelligence, scalability and high capacity – all areas where Ciena excels," he said.
In December 2013, Ciena won a contract from BitCo to upgrade its network to include Ethernet managed bandwidth services for enterprises.
