YouTube has introduced a feature on its Android app to enhance the virtual reality (VR) experience of the users while watching videos.
The streaming site started supporting 360 degree video on its platform last year, and now the new feature will allow users to view videos in VR mode with a click.
Users will have to place their Android phones onto Google’s low cost "Cardboard" VR headset to view the content.
Ranging between $5 and $50, the cardboard viewer supports larger phones with screens up to 6 inches and assembles in three steps.
According to YouTube, VR video will give a sense of depth to its viewers because they will be able to look around in every directionViewers will be able to watch any video using Google Cardboard to get the virtual movie theatre experience by selecting the "Cardboard" option from the watch page menu.
Virtual reality market is booming with companies like Samsung and Facebook-owned Oculus introducing VR headsets.
Oculus Rift is planning to release its device next year and is likely to cost between $300 and $350.
The YouTube app with the updated Cardboard technology is currently available for its native Android phones but an iOS version is expected soon.
