Demand for IT staff is growing consistently outside London even as it falls in the capital.

While London still took the lion’s share of the IT job postings analysed in the Experis report, with 35,610 roles offered in London compared to 16,602 outside of London, constituting 68 percent of the total, the proportion has been steadily declining since 2014.

The Tech Cities Job Watch report by Experis found that the number of roles offered in London from July to September dropped 8 percent from the previous quarter.

In Q2 2015 London advertised 70 percent of the IT jobs. This in turn was a fall from Q1 2015, when 71 percent of the jobs were in London, and Q4 2014 when 72 percent were in London.

In cities outside of London, the quarter saw a lesser decline of 1 percent, while Birmingham, Brighton, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle upon Tyne all reported growth.

Glasgow was a particularly big grower, advertising for nearly twice as many permanent roles in IT as in Q2.

In terms of sector, Cloud roles are seeing the biggest growth, increasing 20 percent since Q1 2015.

The report analysed over 52,000 IT jobs advertised across the UK from July to September 2015.
