Amazon will no longer sell Apple TV or the Google Chromecast streaming TV adapter because the devices are not compatible with its Prime Video service.
The news comes after Amazon rival Google introduced an upgraded version of its Chromecast device that can be plugged into television screens to stream content wirelessly from the internet.
Recently, Apple also introduced its improved Apple TV which provides services similar to Fire TV which includes universal voice search, games, and an app store.
Amazon has its own streaming device Roku and it has also been trying to ramp up its Prime Video service, with original shows and content partnerships.
Amazon‘s Prime Video service works on Chromecast with support for the device or through the Prime Video apps which are also available for iPad and iPhone.
According to reports, the company’s move could be because Chromecast and Apple’s new TV are competitive services, with Apple also taking a 30% cut from Amazon for Prime Video that takes place on Apple’s platforms.
An Amazon spokesperson said "It’s important that the streaming media players we sell interact well with Prime Video in order to avoid customer confusion."
