The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has not yet approved online retailer Amazon’s new 4G Kindle Fire tablet.
Amazon anticipates to receive FCC approval before 20 November 2012.
FCC approval is necessary for all mobile phones and tablets using cellular networks in the US, to ensure they do not interfere with other devices.
The tablet is already available for the UK customers in Wi-Fi version where as it is not available in mobile network connectivity.
Amazon sent out confirmation emails to anyone who pre-ordered the tablet saying, "We will send you an email asking you to confirm your pre-order of Kindle Fire when it is approved for sale by the Federal Communications Commission."
Features of the new Kindle Fire HD tablets include a front-facing camera, mated to a customised, pre-installed application from Skype which allows users to video chat for free.
The top-end model of the Kindle Fire line up is priced at $599 with a storage capacity of 64GB, while the cheapest 7-inch WiFi-only Kindle Fire version is priced at $159.
The 4G Kindle Fire tablets are a crucial part of Amazon’s attempt to challenge Apple’s iPad with low prices and a storage of digital content.
