Accenture is hoping to strengthen its hybrid cloud capabilities with the acquisition of Solium.

Solium provides technical skills that enable a consumption-based, as-a-service cloud model that includes knowledge in private and hybrid cloud, Cloud for SAP HANA and Mobility Infrastructure Management.

The purpose of the acquisition is to enable Accenture to add another string to its bow that helps to accelerate customers’ journey to becoming a digital business.

This will include the integration of the professional services company’s Cloud platform and multi-cloud management tool.

Mark Beaton, senior MD, Infrastructure Services, Accenture, EMEA and Latin America, said: "Our clients recognize that cloud is a means to an end, one that will enable them to innovate faster and create entirely new business capabilities."

The company also hopes that the acquisition will enhance its capabilities in infrastructure optimisation, database-as-a-service technologies and converged infrastructure models.

The Madrid-based company was founded as a joint venture between Accenture and BBVA in 2001, with BBVA owning a 66.7% stake. Accenture has decided to become the sole owner but the company will continue to provide hybrid cloud services to its former majority owner for the next five years.
