ProxToMe and Star Cloud Services, a subsidiary of Star Micronics, have today announced a partnership which will soon enable retailers to connect with shoppers in real time.

The companies said they will be introducing scalable proximity technologies and a cloud platform at Star Micronics’ installed base of six million retail printers.

The printers will be used as touch points to allow retailers to engage with shoppers in-store on their mobile devices.

The solution will be based on a device management service and a digital receipting service via a mobile app named ‘AllReceipts’.

ProxToMe, a provide of IoT platorms, said retailers will gain instant online access to their printers to monitor device status and mobile shopper statistics and there is no new to acquire new hardware.

Targeting the global market, ProxToMe and Star Cloud Services designed the app to integrate NFC and printed QR code scanners.

Carlo Capello, CEO of ProxToMe, said: "Cloud connecting receipt printers through the ProxToMe Platform will unleash unprecedented opportunities to bridge the physical and digital retail worlds. AllReceipts is just the beginning."

David Salisbury, VP of sales and marketing at Star Cloud Services, said: "We plan to build on the ProxToMe platform and Star Micronics’ retail presence to build an ecosystem of solutions that tap into the innovations created by developers and other partners.

"We offer retailers the opportunity to gain new competitive advantage through deeper engagement with shoppers, while offering shoppers the convenience of storing receipts that will facilitate returns and management of their personal finances."
