Dell has expanded its to cloud client computing offerings by unveiling the new VMware authenticated improved end points, storage applications and reference architectures, which will allow more organisations to opt for desktop virtualisation.
The company’s new dual-display capable Dell Wyse P25 and quad-display capable Dell Wyse P45 PCoIP zero clients for VMware are expected to offer improved application delivery.
According to Dell, the new PCoIP zero clients will determine the challenges of provisioning, managing, maintaining and securing enterprise desktops through its improved graphics performance, reduced bandwidth consumption through client side caching andenhanced security, in addition to broad extensibility.
Dell has also unveiled new EqualLogic PS6510ES (10GbE) and PS6500ES hybrid storage arrays, which are expected to enhance its end-to-end capabilities for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
The arrays will offer a combination of SSD and NL-SAS drive types within a single EqualLogic 48-drive array.
Further, Dell’s new EqualLogic Host Integration Tools for VMware 3.5 will offer centralised EqualLogic management from VMware vCenter Server in addition to new storage recovery replica capabilities.
The device’s virtual desktop deployment utility will facilitate VDI management with automated and rapid deployment and provisioning of virtual desktops also from the VMware vCenter Server interface.
In collaboration with its partner ecosystem, Dell has also unveiled three new desktop virtualisation reference architectures which are authenticated together with VMware as well as the new Desktop Virtualization Solutions for Government (DVS-Gov)
The new architectures include vStart for VDI Reference Architecture-VMware view, Dell mobile clinical computing – VMware always on point of care reference architecture and new Dell DVS Enterprise – VMware mobile secure desktop reference architecture.
The company has also unveiled new channel desktop virtualisation application certification competency which is expected to harmonise the current enterprise channel capacity and complete the end-to-end IT offerings.
Dell’s Wyse P25, P45, EqualLogic PS6510ES/ PS6500ES and Host Integration Tools for VMware 3.5 are expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2012.
The company’s vStart for VDI 50, vStart for VDI 1000 reference architectures, DVS VMware mobile secure desktop reference architecture and mobile clinical computing – VMware alwayson point of care reference architecture are currently on sale.
