UK sub-contract electronics manufacturing applications company IO Electronics has selected the Epicor’s new enterprise resource planning (ERP) application for the electronics and high tech industries.

The new Epicor application is expected to support IO Electronics in its four-year growth plan, the company said.

The existing ERP application is being used for last 10 years to manage company’s core processes, but the system is not flexible enough to meet company’s need.

The existing ERP was unable to handle key information such as project costing, quotations and the tracking of orders, prompting the company to migrage to Epicor’s application.

IO Electronics managing director Andrew Cridland said with Epicor it will have all information available to the departments that need it in real-time.

"As our operatives finish a task they will update Epicor ERP, meaning we can track the progress and location of any production run across any of our four facilities," Cridland said.

Epicor ERP will also help address the excessive stock issue through single part codes, which in turn improves the management of production planning and allows the provision of substitute components, the company claims.
